Growing, Nurturing and Developing New Crops of Chaplains in Nigeria.
Necessity is placed on us professional chaplains in Nigeria and the continent of Africa, no matter how few we are, to nurture, grow and develop new crops of chaplains who will take responsibility for taking chaplaincy, chaplaincy practice and service delivery to the next level.
The kind of chaplains that must be nurtured, grown and developed:
1.     Chaplains who will break with the past of playing truance with people’s life, issues and be committed to offering beneficial services.
2.     Chaplains who will remain people-centered, people-oriented and people-focused in the discharge of their professional duties.
3.     Chaplains who will be teachable, releasing themselves to learn new things to enable them serve humanity better and also attain self-actualization.
4.     Chaplains who will embrace professionalism, professional training and practice very seriously at all times to attain relevance in various societies of our continent.
5.     Chaplains who are knowledgeable to see the need for chaplaincy services, practice and service delivery in every life situation and are adequately trained to offer such services.
6.     Chaplains who are able to marry their God-given potentials with innovations and creativity to better the lots of the people they are called to serve.
7.     Chaplains who are prepared to care for the total man, nursing him to wholesomeness; providing wholistic services to humanity.
8.     Chaplains who are prepared to bring the needed reformation to peoples’ life in any given situation.
9.     Chaplains who will be prepared to douse all forms of tensions and crisis, thus preventing depression, suicidal thought and actions in people.
10.                        Chaplains who will be prepared to ensure peaceful-coexistence amongst people of different tribes, ethnic groups, cultures and religions, thereby making peace to reign in the society.
11.                        Chaplains who will be able to contribute their own quota to the socio-economic political development of our nation.
12.                        Career chaplains who will take chaplaincy and chaplaincy practice to every sector of the economy.
