Professions within a
Profession: A Case Study
Our world is aware of the fact that there are possibilities
of some other professions to grow out of the many professions. Permit me to
illustrate such growth with the accounting profession. Accounting is the main
or major profession out of which following professions have grown:
1.
Cost
and works accountancy.
2.
Management
accountancy.
3.
Public
accountancy.
4.
Corporate
accountancy.
5.
Taxation.
6.
Project
accountancy.
7.
Auditing.
What is common to all of these professions that grows out of
accountancy is “General Accounting Studies” before their various specialties,
accountancy remains the major profession out of which others are growing.
In like manner, chaplaincy profession incorporates or
embodies other professions that are known to have grown out of chaplaincy such
as:
1.
Health
care chaplaincy which involves other specialities like hospital chaplaincy,
hospice chaplaincy, palliative care.
2.
Mental
health chaplaincy.
3.
Oil
and gas chaplaincy.
4.
Parliamentary
and party chaplaincy.
5.
Eco
chaplaincy.
6.
Workplace
chaplaincy.
7.
Sport
chaplaincy.
8.
Agricultural
chaplaincy.
9.
Market
chaplaincy.
10.
Corporate
chaplaincy, etc.
Chaplaincy is what all of them have in common. General
chaplaincy, its practice and service delivery is what is common to all these
professions growing out of actual chaplaincy profession.
