Beloved professional chaplaincy, spiritual care an psychospiritual care practioners, professional relevance is not one of the gifts of the Holy Spirit, not an honourary award or a remuneration, but rather what must be earned through labourious studies, professional chaplaincy education and training, competent display of skills and tactful attendance to numerous problems of humanity, with the intention of providing needed solutions to such.

Professional chaplaincy relevance is usually developed over the years of competent practice and continuous professional development (CPD) of individual practicing chaplains.

Professional chaplaincy relevance can only be attained through supervised evidence based professional chaplaincy practices and service delivery in the public or private institutions or establishments that meets the global best chaplaincy practice and not in a vacuum or in the air.

Professional chaplaincy relevance and acceptance can only be gotten through practical application of theoretical knowledge acquired in chaplaincy training and education.

Professional chaplaincy relevance is a kind of recognition that professional chaplaincy practioners are available to offer beneficial chaplaincy care and services to the public irrespective of their age, ethnicity, culture, religions, beliefs, faith, social status etc.

Chaplains who seek or desire to remain relevant in any chaplaincy field or setting must be prepared to relotase themselves for the following trainings and education in chaplaincy studies:

1.     General chaplaincy education, up to 1^st Degree, chaplaincy concentration.

2.     Professional chaplaincy education, especially the CCPE or CPE study programme which is intended to help develop chaplains professionally and practically in handling fragile and delicate issues and situations of others with tact and needed competencies.

3.     Supervised, evidence-based actual chaplaincy practice under qualified professionals and supervisors in any chaplaincy setting or specific chaplaincy field of one’s choice.

4.     Professional chaplaincy certification which can only be attained through rigorous studies and professional practice evidences.

5.     Continuous professional chaplaincy development through attending of conferences, seminars, symposia and webinars.

Note: Professional chaplaincy relevance is surely beyond traditional, ritualistic chaplaincy practices and services. Chaplains must of necessity move along with current global trends as far as professional chaplaincy and service delivery are concerned.
