Categories of Chaplains
Chaplains can be categorized into the following for the
purpose of public understanding and benefits:-
1.
Military
chaplains: These are chaplains in the services of the armed forces of any
nation such as:

Army
chaplains.
·
Navy
chaplains.
·
Airforce
chaplains.
Some of these military chaplains have
given themselves to be trained in professional chaplaincy practice and are
professional chaplains in the developed nations of the world.
2.
Law
enforcement chaplains or para-military chaplains: These are chaplains serving
in law enforcement agencies of various nations such police, custom,
firefighters etc.
NB: These military and paramilitary
chaplains offer chaplaincy services only within the military and law
enforcement communities.
3.
Civil
chaplains: These are chaplains who offer chaplaincy services amongst the civil
population of nations of the world. They
may be public chaplains, who offer services in the public domain.
They may also choose to be chaplains
offering services to individuals, groups, families, corporates or they may
establish private practice centers and may be called “private chaplains.”
