Disappointment
At various times in life’s journeys, people get
disappointed in others, things life’s situations etc. disappointment has no
respect for gender, age, or status. Disappointment is a state of
dissatisfaction, and frustration. It comes or occurs when one’s expectations
are not met such as;
a.
Expectations in
marriage.
b.
Expectations in
life.
c.
Expectations in
business or profession.
d.
Expectations by
one’s family.
e.
Expectations in
parents and children.
Disappointment usually comes with grieving, sorrows,
pain, frustration and depression which may also leads unto other complications.
Because of the devastating effects disappointment has
upon people, professional chaplains are encouraged to learn how to provide the
needed care for people who have experienced disappointments in life or people
who are grieving and sorrowing because of disappointment. In this way chaplains
give meaning to people’s lives.
NB: Disappointment has been found to be the major
source of unhappiness, frustration, depression, suicide, murder etc.,
especially disappointment in relationships, marital disappointment or business
disappointment.
Only professionals who have been adequately trained
and equipped to offer services to people who are frustrated and disappointed in
life and will be able to say to people to use every disappointment as a
stepping stone to a greater height.
