Chaplaincy Entrepreneurship (Chaplaincy Enterprises and Activities
Chaplains can engage in as Beneficial Services to Humanity)
Chaplaincy enterprise and
activities
Preamble:
There are numerous opportunities
opened for us chaplains to offer services to the people of our generation and
world, as we seek to be beneficial to humanity in our activities and
professional practice.
The chaplain that wants to render
a particular or specific service or function must endeavor to identify what
services are needed by the people for him or her to offer or render.
First and foremost, the chaplain
must of necessity come to the understanding that all chaplaincy activities are
service-oriented. In chaplaincy practice, there are no products or articles we
put up for sale, we render and offer beneficial services to humanity which
makes life more meaningful for them.
Chaplaincy profession and practice
is service-oriented and must be ssen as such.
Secondly, the chaplain who intends
to offer beneficial services to the people of his or her community or society
must have an intention of serving. The chaplain must identify needs of the
community or the society that is completely missing or lacking and thus in
great demand and desire by the people to be severed.
Thirdly, the chaplain will then be
expected to identify which of such needs, he or she has the ability,
capability, knowledge and technical know how to handle; select such and make
needed preparation to offer such service.
Fourthly, the starting point is
expected to be very simple and small as the chaplain is preparing to commence
offering whatever services; let it be small and simple so that there can be
growth as the practice goes on and progresses.
Fifthly, the chaplain in seeking to offer
beneficial services to the generality of the people of our generation and world
must have or put in an office, center or base, whatever such is coined – where
the services and practice being offered can be accessed by the people to be
served.
Even when such services are to be
offered online, there must still be a base from where such operations are
carried on.
Sixth, another important factor
which is needed by the chaplain in offering services is professional skills.
Each beneficial services to be offered or rendered by the chaplain must be done
with high professional skill; which makes it mandatory for only professionally
qualified chaplains to venture into providing chaplaincy services and service
delivery to the people.
Kinds of Services Chaplains may offer the General Public:
Such services may be for
individual persons, corporate bodies, groups, communities etc.

I need to say here very
emphatically that whatever service or services, chaplains choose to offer as
beneficial services to humanity must compulsorily include pastoral care
services.
Any chaplaincy practice and
activities devoid of pastoral care services, spiritual care services and
service delivery is not chaplaincy.
