CHAPLAINCY IN THE WORLD IS MOVING FASTER THAN IN NIGERIA AND AFRICA

CHAPLAINCY IN THE WORLD IS MOVING FASTER THAN IN NIGERIA AND AFRICA
For how much are we prepared to remain at the cradle, at the basement level?
Chaplaincy Practice in the developed nations of the world is moving faster than in Africa and Nigeria in particular. Because of the problems confronting us world over have become more advanced, sophisticated and diverse as human beings are. Developed nations of the world have all resolved to tackle these problems head on, seeking to put in place problem solving skills via various researches and memorandum of understanding by professionals in the chaplaincy

related fields, while Africa and Nigeria is still battling with establishing operational chaplaincy structures. If we desire to develop along with world chaplaincy, let us settle down and move along with developed nations in chaplaincy practice and service delivery:
While chaplaincy professionals in the developed nations of the world are diversifying and exploring with calculated conscious efforts to break new grounds for chaplaincy services, African chaplaincy professionals with particular reference to chaplains in Nigeria are busy struggling for positions, imitating the military and how be recognized by the government to share national cake instead of professional practice.
Chaplaincy professionals in developed nations of the world, have succeeded in ascertaining or discovering the mystery of chaplaincy development: positive development of professional chaplaincy practice via adequate education and research, while chaplains in Africa and Nigeria inclusive are still majoring in ranking and promotion of officers who know little or nothing about chaplaincy profession and development.
Professionalizing chaplaincy practice in Nigeria and Africa has long been overdue. Let us all, who are involved in chaplaincy practice in Nigeria and Africa stop paying lip service to chaplaincy development and professionalization, embracing and working for professionalizing chaplaincy practice in Nigeria and Africa in line with what obtains in developed nations of the world.
For example, rape especially the rape of children (minors) has become an endemic casnogenic monster bedeviling our society:
      i.        What have chaplains in Nigeria and Africa discovered to be the root cause of this casinogenic monster and what preventive measures have they put in place for our nation to become a safe and egalitarian society?
ii.        Why are we aliens from the people of this nation or why do we pretend to be indifferent to their problems?
iii.        What have we been able to discover to be reason for the rape of children, youths and even older adults is increasing astronomically?
iv.        Many may say the reason for the increase is the search for power and riches, have we been able to produce the richest person in the world? Have we been able to produce the greatest leader in the world, wielding power above other leaders?
    v.        Why is it difficult for us to discover that something is wrong with our society and nation? Have we not discovered that there is a systemic decay, requiring an urgent systemic overhauling?
This systemic overhauling requires conscious efforts of professional problem-solvers like you and I.  The change being envisaged by government can only become a reality when we care to start the programme of behavioural and attitudinal change in our people. Let chaplains arise, mounting the needed advocacy for a total systemic overhauling of our nation and at the same time standing against wanton destruction innocent lives for power, fame and wealth.
Example Two: Kidnapping has suddenly become a lucrative business in Nigeria. This has become a national concern and worry. Governments are putting in place laws and punishments for offenders. Our national assembly members are beginning to shun the use of their official cars, and run away from plying our high ways for fear of being kidnapped. In your opinion is this the right solution to the problem of national concern and worry? Let us brain storm to unravel the causes for this action, proffering the needed  solutions. Send your imputs and suggestions to the undersigned.
